12.4. Safety locks and fusible inserts - the general information

Various combinations of safety locks, breakers of a chain and fusible inserts are applied to protection of contact chains of an electric equipment of the car. Assembly blocks, are established under the panel of devices and in an impellent compartment of a vehicle (illustrations the assembly block of safety locks / of the relay Located in an impellent compartment (№ 2) and Salonnyj the assembly block of safety locks see ).

Each separate safety lock is used for protection of any concrete electric contour or at once several contours. The identification card of placing of safety locks in the assembly block is usually glued to a cover of the last, from its internal party.

In assembly blocks the safety locks of a compact design equipped with bayonet contact plugs, and if necessary easily taken by fingers from the nests in the block are located. At refusal any of electric power consumers first of all always it is necessary to check a condition of a corresponding safety lock. Turn a key in the ignition lock in position ON and by means of a lamp-sampler probe open plugs of each of safety locks. If the lamp lights up at connection to each of plugs, hence, a safety lock as it should be. If pressure takes place only from outside food givings, means, the safety lock has fused. At replacement of the fused safety lock strictly watch that the established replaceable corresponded on type left of an element. The safety locks calculated on a various nominal current strength physically can differ nothing from each other, without being thus interchangeable. If the new safety lock after installation also fails at once, it is not meaningful to make its further replacement, — before it is necessary to reveal and eliminate the reason of occurrence of an overload in a chain. In most cases that appears the short circuit of connecting electroconducting caused by damage of its isolation.


Fusible inserts

Fusible inserts are used for protection of chains in which for any reason usual safety locks, such as a contour of system of ignition, and also for power chains in which circulates высокоамперный a current cannot be used.

On models Infiniti QX4 fusible inserts are placed in the assembly block of safety locks located in an impellent compartment (the assembly block of safety locks / of the relay Located in an impellent compartment (№ 2 see an illustration )).

For replacement of a fusible insert disconnect a negative wire from the battery and, having pulled failed an element, take it from the landing nest.

If the stereosystem established on the car is equipped by a security code before to disconnect the battery make sure that have a correct combination for audiosystem input in action!

Before to establish to the place of the failed fusible insert the new it is necessary to find out and eliminate the reason of a taking place overload.
